Rob Heller Selected for CCI Board of Visitors Professorship
School of Journalism and Electronic Media Professor Rob Heller has been selected as the fourth recipient of the CCI Board of Visitors Professorship.
The BOV Professorship, currently held by Suzie Allard, Chancellor’s Professor in Information Sciences and CCI Associate Dean for Research, was made possible by generous gifts from donors including current and emeritus members of the college’s Board of Visitors. The three-year rotating professorship was established to recognize and reward outstanding CCI faculty members whose research, creative activity, teaching, and academic and professional service have uniquely contributed to the mission of their school, the college and the university.

Room 316 Named for Advertising Leader David Bohan
The College of Communication and Information named Room 316 in the Communications Building for longtime Board of Visitors member and advertising leader David Bohan (BS/Business Administration ’70) on October 11 during the BOV fall meeting.
Bohan is the founder and chairman of BOHAN Advertising, a top full-service advertising firm based in Nashville since 1990. For decades, he has been a strong supporter of CCI and the University of Tennessee and has also given extensively to his community and profession.

Carroll Named to National Academy of Sciences Board on Research Data & Information
Bonnie C. Carroll, Founder and CEO of Information International Associates, Inc. (IIa), has been appointed as a member of the National Academy of Sciences Board on Research Data and Information (BRDI). BRDI’s mission is “to improve the stewardship, policy, and use of digital data and information for science and the broader society.” Ms. Carroll will be serving ex officio in her capacity as a member of the Executive Committee of the International Council for Science, Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA).

CCI BOV Chair Bonnie Carroll Receives Economic Council Award
The College of Communication and Information’s Board of Visitors (BOV) Chair Bonnie Carroll received the East Tennessee Economic Council’s (ETEC) Muddy Boot Award for 2012 at the ETEC annual awards event.
The Order of the Muddy Boot is arguably the Oak Ridge / Department of Energy (DOE) community’s most prestigious honor, given to celebrate key leaders who have made “significant and long-term contributions to the East Tennessee area with respect to federal government programs and its spin-offs by leveraging the federal presence to create private sector jobs.”

CCI Board of Visitors member Alan Carmichael (BS /JEM ’69) and his wife Cynthia Moxley are this year’s ETSPJ Front Page Follies’ honorees. According to the East Tennessee Society of Professional Journalists (ETSPJ) web site, https://www.etspj.org/, “It’s time again for local journalists to band together to make fun of the news – and raise money for college scholarships so that someone will always be there to report it.”
