The Media Center
In July 2024, the College of Communication and Information is launching The Media Center, an integrated media program composed of Ablaze Magazine, The Daily Beacon, Land Grant Films, Lumos Media Services, The Volunteer Channel, WUOT, and WUTK.
The Media Center Goals
The goals of The Media Center are:
- To support and expand the existing media properties
- Encourage collaboration and community engagement across our platforms
- More fully integrate Media Center properties into the CCI curriculum
Media Properties
Ablaze is a student-run feminist magazine, with the goal of evoking thought and kindling conversation.
The Daily Beacon is the editorially independent, student newspaper of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Land Grant Films is an Emmy-nominated and Telly Award-winning student-engaged, documentary production program.
Lumos Media Services is a student-run creative services company, providing photo, design, and video services to internal and external clients.
The Volunteer Channel is a student-run television station where students learn about pre-production, production, and post-production.
WUOT 91.9 FM is East Tennessee’s NPR affiliate. The station’s primary format is news, classical, and jazz.
WUTK 90.3 “The Rock” is UT’s award-winning student radio station, serving UT and Knoxville for forty-one years.
