Aysar Yahya is a doctoral student in communication and information with a concentration in advertising at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he serves as a graduate teaching assistant in the Tombras School of Advertising and Public Relations. He is also a doctoral researcher in the Department of Public Relations and Advertising at Anadolu University in Türkiye. His research examines consumer avoidance of targeted advertising
through the lens of dataveillance, online privacy, and consumer privacy concerns.
He is particularly interested in how consumers perceive and respond to data collection, personalization, and algorithmic decision-making in digital advertising environments. Aysar earned a Master of Arts in Public Relations and Advertising from Anadolu University and holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations and communication from An-Najah National University. His work has been published in journals such as the Journal of Marketing Communications and the International Journal of Advertising, addressing topics such as targeted advertising, consumer privacy, influencer advertising disclosure, and emerging communication technologies. He also participated in the Summer Institute in Computational Social Science (SICSS) at Carnegie Mellon University, which strengthened his interest in applying computational methods to communication and advertising research.
