CCI’s networking trips connect students with real-world career insights
The College of Communication and Information prepares students to be career ready through immersive networking trips to major cities around the country.

What are CCI
networking trips?
Every year, schools within the College of Communication and Information (CCI) organize networking trips as part of a commitment to deliver a best-in-class student experience at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Students tour businesses, agencies, and organizations where they meet industry professionals who take them behind-the-scenes to see what careers look like in the real world. This professional development opportunity puts CCI students one step ahead of competitors when they graduate and enter the workforce.
Why you should go on a CCI networking trip?
Invaluable networking opportunities
You’ll get to connect with professionals in communication, journalism and media, advertising, public relations, and information industries.
Learn more about your field of study
Tours and other engagement opportunities enhance your understanding of the field as you observe real-world applications of what you have learned in the classroom.
Engage and connect with CCI alumni
You’ll meet CCI alumni who are an invaluable resource to students for mentorship, insider perspectives, and general career advice as fellow members of UT’s “orange network.”

This tradition continues in 2026 as the School of Information Sciences joins for its inaugural student networking trip.Â

Providing students with unique opportunities to network with industry professionals—especially our own alumni who want to support the next generation of Volunteers—will set them up for success after graduation. Giving our students a chance to see what their futures could look like means they’re more likely to enter a career they will thrive in, which is our goal as a college.”
