“In today’s society, we are constantly bombarded by an information tidal wave. It’s difficult for people to know what is good information, and what is harmful. Our individual and our community well-being depends on people finding trustworthy information,” said Suzie Allard, Chancellor’s Professor of Information Sciences.

Recent Master’s Grad Kylie Julius Celebrates Successes in Research
Throughout her time as an undergraduate and graduate student at the College of
Communication and Information, Kylie Julius has pulled much of her strength and inspiration from the faculty she says “took a chance” on her. But their investment in her paid off when Julius not only graduated with her master’s from CCI this past May, but when one of the papers she authored was accepted to be published, and yet another was presented at the National Communication Association’s 108th Annual Conference in November.

Oral History Project Will Bring Hispanic Journalists’ Voices to the Table
Diversity, equity, and inclusion should be woven throughout every aspect of academia, whether that is the people themselves, curriculum, or research. SIS Teams Up with 4-H, UTIA, to Improve Digital Literacy in Rural Tennessee
Excellent scholarship and research is one of the core components of any Research 1 institution, and that has been a driving force behind the work of both faculty and students at the College of Communication and Information. But there is always room to grow, improve, and expand the scope of what is done, which is what Goal 2 of CCI’s Strategic Plan sets out to do. SCRIPS Grant Funding Supports Innovative Research at CCI
The Research and Innovation Center (RIC) supports College of Communication and Information (CCI) scholarship by offering services to aid researchers throughout the research process, with a particular focus on helping compete for and win grants. This year, the center introduced the Summer CCI Research and Innovation Projects Support (SCRIPS) program. This competitive program provides CCI funding to awardees.
SCRIPS grants promote broad participation from the CCI research community. Allard Named Third CCI Board of Visitors Professor
Suzie Allard, CCI associate dean for research and SIS professor, has been selected as the third recipient of the CCI Board of Visitors Professorship.
Allard also serves the college as director of the Center for Information and Communication Studies.
“I am delighted that my work as a researcher, scholar, and teacher has been recognized with this wonderful honor, and I thank the Board of Visitors, whose generosity established the professorship. This award provides me with opportunities to serve CCI, UT, and the discipline through new venues,” Allard said.
