Nexus

Living Learning Community

CCI’s Nexus LLC provides an exciting community where first-year communication and information students live on the same floor in a residential hall and are provided extra support and opportunities so they can learn, grow, and succeed.

Live

Nexus LLC is located in Magnolia Hall for 2026-2027. All LLC locations are subject to change.

Learn

Nexus LLC students build strong bonds while taking shared courses, forming study groups, participating in tutoring sessions, developing teamwork skills, and engaging with the broader CCI community.

Required fall semester classes

Benefits of being in the Nexus LLC

Through teamwork, hands-on experiences, and active involvement on campus, we help students build strong academic skills, explore career paths, and develop personally—both inside and outside the classroom.

Engage

Nexus LLC prepares students to compete and succeed in today’s global workforce by giving them a well-rounded and engaging learning experience.

Serve

Nexus LLC gives students hands-on learning opportunities that help them connect with each other, work with campus partners, and get involved in the greater Knoxville community.

Apply

The Nexus LLC is open to all first-year students that are majoring in and/or minoring in a College of Communication and Information program. A complete LLC application is required for all interested students.

Incoming first-year students interested in participating in Nexus LLC should first complete their online housing application. Once complete, students can access the online Living and Learning Community application (available in early February). For more information, contact the Department of University Housing.
