
CCI is going to New York City January 19-24
Start your spring 2026 semester in New York City! Join faculty and fellow students from the College of Communication and Information (CCI) for a week-long networking trip in the Big Apple. This is an opportunity for students to meet with industry professionals, network with alumni, and explore your profession as part of this immersive, hands-on experience.
CCI faculty and students will depart for New York City on Monday, January 19, 2026, and return on Saturday, January 24, 2026.
Registration for the 2026 trip opens 8 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2025, and closes noon Friday, October 17, 2025, or until the trips are fully reserved. Students will be added to a waitlist if all spots are filled before October 17.
Registration preference will be given to students based on seniority by credits. If all spots are not taken by majors (undergraduate and graduate), the remaining spots will be made available to minors. There may be additional specifics from each school.

Additional Information
All CCI students will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express Manhattan Times Square South, 60 West 36th Street, New York, NY 10018.
Most appointments are within walking distance of the hotel. Please plan to arrive at the hotel before 3 p.m. on Monday, January 19, 2026. You can depart any time on Saturday, January 24, 2026, but will need to checkout of the hotel by 11 a.m.
There will also be a mandatory meeting about the trip for all attendees on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 4 p.m. in COM 321, to review trip information and give students an opportunity to ask questions. Students will also be able to select their roommate during the trip meeting. Please plan for about a one-and-a-half hour meeting.
Each participating school in the college arranges their own itinerary for the trip. Specific registration information for each school is below:
Tombras School of Advertising and Public Relations
The Tombras School of Advertising and Public Relations (ADPR) will be taking 40 students to visit New York City this spring for an exciting week of professional development and networking.
The fee for the trip is $39 per student. This covers students’ hotel accommodation (two students per room), MetroCard, tours, and the CCI alumni social. Students will be responsible for their own airfare, meals, and airport transportation. The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast each morning and 24/7 coffee and tea.
The fee is due to ADPR upon confirmation of registration for the trip. Students will receive communication via their “utk.edu” email from Assistant Professor of Practice Joe Stabb with instructions about paying the deposit to secure their spot.

School of Journalism and Media
| The School of Journalism and Media (J&M) will be taking 20 students to New York City for an exciting week of professional development and networking at media organizations. There will be a welcome dinner at Printers Alley (the New York UT Alumni hangout), and anticipated visits to NBC, Fox News, CNBC (in New Jersey), the New York Times, and Teen Vogue. The fee for the trip is $50 per student. This covers students’ hotel accommodation (two students per room), MetroCard, tours, and the CCI alumni social. Students will be responsible for their own airfare, meals, and airport transportation. The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast each morning and 24/7 coffee and tea. The fee is due to J&M upon confirmation of registration for the trip. Students will receive communication via their “utk.edu” email from Professor of Practice Michael Martinez with instructions about paying the deposit to secure their spot. School of Information Sciences
| The School of Information Sciences (SIS) will be taking 10 students to visit New York City this spring for an exciting week of professional development and networking. The fee for the trip is $39 per student. This covers students’ hotel accommodation (two students per room), MetroCard, tours, and the CCI alumni social. Students will be responsible for their own airfare, meals, and airport transportation. The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast each morning and 24/7 coffee and tea. The fee is due to SIS upon confirmation of registration for the trip.
