Over the past year, the College of Communication and Information has continued to create excellent academic and experiential learning opportunities for students. Here are just some of the accomplishments that highlight the continued upward trajectory of CCI:
- In late December 2021, CCI received a transformational gift from the Tombras Agency. In February 2022, the Board of Trustees recognized the magnitude of this gift by renaming CCI’s School of Advertising and Public Relations as the Tombras School of Advertising and Public Relations – creating the first named school on campus and the first named school of its kind among all land-grant universities in the country and in the SEC.
- WUTK, the university’s student-run radio station, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. In celebration of this milestone, our donors have given nearly $40,000 in private support to the station.
- CCI collectively endorsed a new strategic plan, most notably with a focus on preparing our students for success in the classroom and in their careers.
This progress is only possible through the generosity of CCI alumni, faculty, staff, and friends who have financially supported the college. Now, there is an opportunity for those who make a gift of $2,000 to the CCI Enrichment Fund to have a seat in the Larry Patrick Auditorium named after them. There are currently only 11 seats available for naming.
Those interested in this opportunity should reach out to Sarah Barclay, assistant director of annual giving & stewardship, at sbarcla3@utk.edu, to secure their named seat.
