Program Overview

Do you love to think strategically and out-of-the-box? Do you love to write? You don’t have to be creative, but if you are and number-crunching does not appeal to you, advertising is for you! In our advertising major, you will learn the strategy and principles of developing campaigns and advertisements for organizations, services, and products. Many students interested in this area find they want to be more creative, so advertising makes a great major for them.

Why study Advertising?

Whether it’s the intimate class sizes that foster relationships and networking, or the way we encourage our students in conducting work just like what they will be doing in the professional realm, students who chose to major in advertising will have support every step of the way to achieve their goals and dreams.

We teach applied job skills

Students majoring in advertising graduate with the skillset they will actually use on the job. They take courses in graphic design, research, professional development, media strategy account management, social media strategy, and campaigns to equip them with the applied skills they need to succeed in the workplace.

Small class sizes

In the Tombras School, you are anything but a number! Our students develop close relationships with the faculty and staff, who are there to guide and support you, give you academic and career advice, and serve as references for you to get internships and jobs. All our upper-level major courses have thirty students or less. Also, you will get to know your classmates and do group projects with them to prepare you for working with a team in the real world.

The real world is your classroom

The Tombras School prides itself on the professional development opportunities it offers students and makes the “real world” your classroom! Students visit agencies and departments in New York City and other cities to learn about the industry while making important connections.  The Tombras School also offers two study abroad programs in Italy to study advertising or public relations. Students get one-on-one industry coaching opportunities throughout the year with top professionals in the fields.
