Brian Stevens is currently pursuing his PhD while serving as a longstanding instructor in the Department of Business Analytics & Statistics at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. With 15 years of dedicated teaching experience, he holds the position of distinguished lecturer and functions as the faculty director for Technology Enhanced Education at the Haslam College of Business.  

Renowned for his inventive and engaging teaching style, Stevens blends technology, gamification, and a flair for pop culture to make learning both fun and accessible—especially to Gen Z learners. Whether crafting humorous intro videos, orchestrating “speed run” lessons inspired by video games, or leveraging tools like MuBot in YouTube livestreams, he consistently creates immersive and interactive learning experiences. Stevens’ commitment to teaching excellence has earned him numerous awards and honors. Among his most recent accolades are the University of Tennessee’s 2024 President’s Award in the “Nimble and Innovative” category, the 2023 E. Jane Hazlewood Faculty Award, the 2020 Allen H. Keally Excellence in Teaching Award, and the 2018 Alumni Excellence in Teaching Award. In 2022, the department even established the “Brian Stevens Award” in the Business Analytics Department in his honor.  

Beyond the classroom, Stevens advises student organizations such as the Business Analytics Society and Birds Aren’t Real. He’s also built a dynamic online presence, creating asynchronous learning content and growing a YouTube channel with hundreds of thousands of views—bringing accessible, high-quality statistical learning to broader audiences. In all that he does, Brian strives to make learning fun, inclusive, and tailored to how newer generations learn.
