July 5, 2022 / Knoxville, Tennessee – The Public Relations & Communications Association (PRCA) – the largest global public relations body, based in London – recently honored two East Tennessee public relations executives as inaugural members of its International Fellows: Fletcher Marketing PR CEO Kelly Fletcher and Senior Strategist Mary Beth West.
For more than 20 years, Fletcher and West have served in various leadership positions in the industry. They manage a public relations podcast, “Ms. InterPReted,” which focuses on leadership, ethics and strategic issues in the PR industry – including marketing to women and advancing women in career and executive roles.
Fellows of the PRCA are designated due to their outstanding contribution to the business of PR and communications.
Fletcher is a graduate of Meredith College in Raleigh, NC and has served on the boards of Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee, Komen Knoxville, Knoxville Opera and the Women’s Fund of East Tennessee. She was awarded the Knoxville-based PRSA Volunteer Chapter’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.
West was named the University of Tennessee’s Public Relations Alumna of the Year in 2013 and is a graduate of Leadership Knoxville and Leadership Oak Ridge. She serves as co-chair of the PRCA’s Global Ethics Council and is involved in numerous philanthropic efforts, both in East Tennessee and in the PR industry.
The PRCA represents more than 35,000 PR professionals in 82 countries worldwide. With offices in London, Hong Kong, Dubai, Singapore, and Buenos Aires, the PRCA is a global advocate for excellence in public relations, with a mission to create a more professional, ethical, and prosperous PR industry.*
Mary Beth West (’94) went to the College of Communication determined to make a career in public relations and today counts herself lucky to have entered a field that suits her so well. After working in the industry for a while, Best built her own public relations firm that she eventually sold to Kelly Fletcher, CEO of Fletcher Marketing PR, in 2018. West continued working as a senior strategist for the firm, and both women have become increasingly involved in the Public Relations & Communications Association, with Best serving on the organization’s global advisory board and its global ethics counsel. “Being named a PRCA Fellow is a true honor,” Best said.
