Show our students the Volunteer way

The continued involvement of alumni at SIS is one way we maintain our ranking as a top library and information science program in the country, which we strive to improve each day so your SIS degree continues to grow in value.

Help us build a strong network so we can take care of each other, and a degree that shines as bright today as it did on the day your received it!

Connecting SIS alumni with students

While you may have graduated and moved on, we still want to stay in touch with you and connect you with the next generation of Information Sciences students. Please fill out the alumni engagement form if you’re interested in any of the many ways you can show your Volunteer spirit by engaging with the School of Information Sciences and our students.

Host

Alumni can host a student visit to their business or organization, or even assist in coordinating a student trip to their city or region. These trips expose students to the work professionals and alumni, such as you, are doing out in the real world!

Mentor

We’re always looking for ways to introduce students to alumni, or for alumni to network with each other. We organize various social and career development events where alumni can meet with students. Alumni can also volunteer to be professional mentors.

Give

While alumni can always donate to our enrichment fund, there are many other ways you can provide financial support for students and faculty. These include establishing endowments and scholarships or funding student trips or equipment purchases.

Share your story with us

I enjoy volunteering on the SIS Advisory Board as an alum as it gives me an opportunity to support the school and its work, but personally it also helps me stay up-to-date on changes in our field and stay connected to the diverse and knowledgeable alumni network. I also love connecting with students and hearing what they are excited about and studying. It’s easy to get bogged down in the day-to-day slog, and I love the energy and perspective I get to share in by giving my time to the program in different ways.”
