Whether you’re reporting in Prague, visiting the national headquarters of a media company, or attending professional conferences, the School of Journalism and Media offers unique opportunities to learn about journalism and media and network with industry professionals around the country and world.

Networking trips

We take students to locations such as New York City, Nashville, Atlanta, and Washington, DC, to tour journalism and media organizations, meet industry professionals, and network with alumni.

A Journalism and Media student is seen from the back wearing a Hands-On From Day One t-shirt as they look up at a building with the 2024 Paralympics logo rendered on it in metal.

Cover the Paralympics

This unique experience allows students to work with the USA TODAY Network to report on the Paralympic Games, giving them international exposure and teaches them how to report on disability and accessibility in sports.

Study abroad

Our study abroad trips give students the chance to learn about other countries and cultures while gaining hands-on experience in the field.

We did a lot of reporting in the fields, we were thrown right into it so it was very scary but that made it rewarding. It was amazing. It was like no other class I’ve really taken.”
