Yufan “Sunny” Qin

Assistant Professor Yufan “Sunny” Qin’s research agenda comprises two interrelated lines of inquiry. First, her research focuses on corporate strategic communication and internal communication by emphasizing the value of communication as the strategic management function to build mutually beneficial relationships between an organization and its key stakeholders – employees. Second, Qin’s research seeks to examine the role of public relations in guiding an organization to be purpose-driven to provide positive social impact and benefit stakeholders within and outside the business. Qin’s research utilizes mixed methods, including both quantitative and qualitative research. She has published in leading journals, such as the Journal of Public Relations Research, Public Relations Review, and International Journal of Business Communication. Qin’s scholarship has been recognized through multiple research and paper awards from leading public relations and communication associations. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes proactive learning, student engagement, and real-world application. Qin is passionate about creating a supportive learning environment and mentoring students through different opportunities, including her previous work of leading a student-run PR agency and a study abroad program.
