Haley, White Named DeForrest Jackson Professors
Professors Eric Haley and Candace White are the next recipients of the School of Advertising and Public Relations’ DeForrest Jackson Professorship.
The professorship is held by tenured faculty members in the school on a three-year rotating basis. Haley and White will hold the professorship from August 1, 2020 to July 31,2023. They succeed Mariea Hoy, who was selected as the inaugural recipient of the professorship in 2017.

Mariea Hoy Awarded Inaugural DeForrest Jackson Professorship
Mariea Hoy, a professor in the School of Advertising and Public Relations, is the inaugural recipient of the DeForrest Jackson Professorship.
The school’s first named professorship, the DeForrest Jackson Professorship was created earlier this year with a gift from Suzanne Sackleh Masters of Atlanta, who received her bachelor’s degree in advertising and public relations in 1989. Masters made the gift in honor of her favorite professor, DeForrest Jackson.

Masters Endows Jackson Professorship in UT School of Advertising and PR
With a gift of $500,000, Suzanne S. Masters, a 1989 graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s School of Advertising and Public Relations, has established the DeForrest Jackson Endowed Professorship, named after her favorite professor.
The gift, tied for the second largest ever received by UT’s College of Communication and Information, creates the first professorship for the School of Advertising and Public Relations.
Jackson came to UT after retiring as communications director for Cola-Cola’s corporate offices in Atlanta.
