Yassin Terou, Tyvi Small Honored with 2021 CCI Diversity Awards
The College of Communication and Information will host the 13th annual CCI Experience Diversity Banquet virtually April 9.
Civil Rights Pioneer Theotis Robinson Jr. served as the keynote speaker, and two individuals who have made outstanding contributions to diversity and inclusion were presented with the 2021 CCI Diversity Award: Yassin Terou, owner of Yassin’s Falafel House in Knoxville, and Tyvi Small, UT Knoxville Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Engagement.

Robert Booker Named 2020 CCI Diversity Award Winner
The University of Tennessee College of Communication and Information presented civil rights activist, author, and historian Robert Booker with the 2020 CCI Diversity Award at the 12th annual CCI Experience Diversity Banquet, which was held Feb. 21 at Bearden Banquet Hall.
“The Power of Connecting” was the theme of this year’s banquet that featured dramatizations from members of the CCI Diversity Student Leaders Society on the topics of health insurance, prescription drugs, and immigration.

2016 CCI Experience Diversity Banquet Will Feature Nashville TV Meteorologist Statom
The College of Communication and Information will hold its eighth annual Experience Diversity Banquet tonight at Bearden Banquet Hall. The event is sold out.
The keynote speaker and 2016 College of Communication and Information Diversity Award recipient will be UT alumnus Lelan Statom. He is a meteorologist for NewsChannel 5 in Nashville and co-host of Talk of the Town, the station’s top-rated talk show.
Statom earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from UT in 1986 and has a certificate of broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University.
