Three Communication and Information (C&I)Nick Lewandowski doctoral students – Jamie Greig, Stephen Spates, and Whitney Tipton – represented the college as semi-finalists in the 3-Minute Thesis competition. Greig has advanced to the finals to be held April 7.
The Knoxville American Advertising Federation announced the winners of its student division competition at its 52nd annual awards gala, February 25, 2017. UT advertising student awards included: Bronze citations of excellence to Amanda Myers (3), Amber Rose Wilson (2), Harley Gorlewski, Kalee Simpson, Lauren Parrish, and Mara Robinette; and Silver ADDY Awards to Kalin Foster, Sierra Plese (2), and Timmy Strini.
JEM senior Nick Lewandowski has been selected as a 2017 International Radio and TV Society (IRTS) Fellow. He is one of only 20 students nationally selected to participate in this summer’s IRTS Fellowship Program in New York City. All fellows will attend a week-long workshop with some of the top people in the field. They will then be placed in a prestigious internship in New York. Nick is interested in media sales and management and has interned at ESPN and WVLT-TV.
Two UT students have won prestigious fellowships to the American Association of Advertising Agencies Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP). Joshua Oliver, a junior majoring in advertising, and Laura Gamo, a C&I Master’s student with a public relations concentration, will participate in the summer-long program in New York working with member advertising agencies.
JEM junior Justin Crawford was recently featured in a campus spotlight story because of his vast campus involvement. He is currently working on the TN Today broadcast as well as participating in student organizations such as the CCI Diversity Student Leaders Society (DSLS) and UT’s Ignite Center for Leadership & Service.
