All of these conferences are virtual this year. Here is a round-up of their contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Dania Bilal has several roles in the upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asist.org\/am20\/\">Association for Information Science &amp; Technology Annual Meeting Oct. 22-Nov. 1<\/a>, which are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Presenting a paper at the ASIS&amp;T SIG USE Symposium, \u201c&nbsp;Theory use in youth information behavior and interaction research, 1999-2019\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chairing the paper session on Health and Technology.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Acting as an invited mentor for the Doctoral Colloquium.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Associate Professor Wade Bishop is presenting a paper, along with several co-authors that include MSIS student Hannah Gunderman, at ASIS&amp;T, \u201cData Management Plan Scorecard.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assistant Professor Brian Dobreski is presenting at several conferences, and said the virtual aspect has allowed him more flexibility in attendance. Here is what he has already presented and will be presenting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Presented \u201cConfronting and Addressing Historical Discriminations through Knowledge Organization Systems\u201d at the 2020 Networked Knowledge Organization Systems (NKOS) Consolidated Workshop in early September.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Presented at the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI) Virtual 2020&nbsp;conference, as speaking on the panel, \u201cDeep Semantic Representation from Metadata Descriptions.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He will be presenting at the 2020 ASIS&amp;T&nbsp;Conference a paper co-authored by MSIS student Cassidy Thompson, \u201cRecreated Actors and Attribution: An Analysis of Film Crediting Practices.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He will be speaking on a panel at ASIS&amp;T, \u201cLinked Data Education: Past, Present, &amp; Future.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He will also be speaking on a panel at ALISE, \u201cTechnical Services Education: Transformation &amp; Advocacy.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Associate Professor Devendra Potnis is attending the upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/homebase.map-dynamics.com\/alise2020\/dashboard\">2020 Virtual Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) Annual Conference Oct. 13-23<\/a> as the designated school officer at the School Representatives\u2019 Meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doctoral student Joseph Winberry has been involved with a lot of ALISE activity this year and:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Received the Doctoral Student to ALISE award, which covered his conference attendance and a year of professional membership.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Served as a reviewer for the ALISE conference.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Will be joining the ALISE\/Connie Van Fleet Award for Research&nbsp;Excellence in Public Library Services to Adults<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>Committee for a two-year term.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Will present an in-progress poster about his experience working on a project funded by an ALISE mini-grant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Associate Professor Awa Zhu is one of the organizers of the ASIS&amp;T workshop &#8220;Sociotechnical Change Agents: ICTs, Sustainability, and Global Challenges (SIG-SI, SIG-SM,\u00a0SIG-IEP).\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are several fall conferences coming up soon, and SIS has faculty and graduate students participating in presentations, panels, and more.
