The new rankings also mean that the SIS library and information sciences program now takes the top slot among Southeastern Conference (SEC) schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the SIS school library media program was recognized as 13<sup>th&nbsp;<\/sup>and the digital librarianship program as 14<sup>th&nbsp;<\/sup>in the rankings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled to be recognized as one of the top 10 programs in library and information sciences. Our faculty are excellent teachers and productive researchers, our students go on to exciting careers, and we have all worked hard together to be at the forefront of the information sciences. Our master\u2019s degree program has grown to more than 300 distance and on-campus students and our new bachelor\u2019s program is emphasizing our expertise in user experience and data management. The future looks bright for UT SIS!\u201d said SIS Interim Director Carol Tenopir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The University of Tennessee News site <a href=\"https:\/\/news.utk.edu\/2021\/03\/31\/ut-earns-best-graduate-schools-designation-from-u-s-news-and-world-report\/\" class=\"ek-link\">posted the public institution rankings<\/a> (which excludes private institutions) from the report, placing the SIS library and information sciences program at 9<sup>th<\/sup>, school library media at 11<sup>th&nbsp;<\/sup>and digital librarianship at 11<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SIS program has a long and illustrious history in library and information sciences, boasting faculty who are well-known to be top experts in the field and maintaining its status as an American Library Association accredited program since 1972.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Tennessee, Knoxville\u2019s School of Information Sciences was ranked as the 10th&nbsp;best in library and information sciences programs in the 2022 US News and World Report graduate school rankings report released March 30, 2021.
