Shaundra (Shani) Daily

Shaundra B. Daily is a professor in the School of Information Sciences. Before joining UT, she was the Cue Family Professor of the Practice of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University. Her research focuses on designing and studying sociotechnical systems that support meaningful participation in STEM, spanning human-centered computing, affective computing, and education and workforce development. She has developed technologies using motion capture, augmented reality, and AI to support learning and social-emotional development. Daily served as Backbone Director of the $10 million NSF-funded Alliance for Interdisciplinary Innovation in Computing Education and Education and Workforce Director of the $20 million Athena AI Institute, with her research supported by more than $40 million in funding from NSF, NIH, foundations, and industry. She earned her PhD and SM from the MIT Media Lab and holds BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering.
