Shelby L. Rios is a doctoral candidate in the Tombras School of Advertising and Public Relations. Her education has focused on public relations with a Bachelor of Science from Appalachian State University and a Master of Science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
She has taught a variety of classes for the University of Tennessee, including PR Writing, PR Principles, and the PR Design Lab. Her research line focuses on how health professionals are navigating polarized political environments as well as how advocacy groups use public relations tactics to advocate for policies, such as paid parental leave.
When she is not working, she enjoys kickboxing, playing with her Shepsky mix at the park, or rewatching “Jurassic Park.”
