Byron Jamal Keys curriculum vitae
Byron Keys is a native of Greenwood, Mississippi. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) in 2013 and a MSMC Journalism from Arkansas State University (Astate) in 2015.
After leaving Astate, where he also worked in Career Services, Byron worked for newspapers in Greenville and Winona, MS, and as a kindergarten teacher. Keys has served as a state officer for his fraternity as the director of publicity and media. During this time, he has contributed articles and page designs to Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.’s national magazine The Crescent and the southern region’s magazine The Premiere.
He has presented at numerous workshops and conferences on various social media culture subjects. Keys has served as an academic advisor and instructor at MVSU. Keys is currently an academic advisor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in the College of Communication and Information while working on his doctoral degree with a concentration in journalism and media. Upon completion of his degree, Keys hopes to return to the classroom.

Theoretical approaches and practical issues regarding social media’s various roles in many social and diverse groups’ lives.
