CCI’s Board of Visitors’ (BOV) fall meeting was held on Nov. 14 and was led by BOV vice-chair Missy Wallen (’74) on behalf of BOV Chair Ed Ingle (’83) who was unable to attend. Wallen, chairman of Pinnacle Financial Partners, Inc. Knoxville, began the meeting by having three students share their CCI experiences with the board.
During the all-day meeting, BOV members were provided with updates on the challenges and opportunities facing the College and each of its four schools. Board members offered action ideas, advice, and suggestions focused on helping CCI contribute to UT Knoxville’s journey to the Top 25.
Four new board members were introduced at the meeting.

Charles Tombras (’64), President and CEO, the Tombras Group, Knoxville, TN
Breakout sessions were held in the afternoon to brainstorm action ideas in the following areas:
- Alumni Relations & Development
- Communications & Publicity
- Internationalization & Study Abroad
- Research & Technology
- Student Enrichment & Professional Engagement.
BOV members also took part in the dedication of the John and Patty Williams Conference Room (see related article in this issue). On Friday evening, BOV members attended the CCI Awards and Scholarship Donor Appreciation Banquet, and the CCI Tailgate Party prior to the UT/Kentucky football game.
