In honor of the life and legacy of Dolly Parton, Land Grant Films will host a free public screening of its 2020 documentary, The Library That Dolly Built, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Kerns Bakery and Food Hall in Knoxville.
The screening offers the community an opportunity to experience the story behind Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, the early childhood literacy program that has provided free books to children around the world.
Produced by Land Grant Films, an Emmy-nominated and Telly Award-winning, student-engaged documentary production program within the College of Communication and Information’s Media Center, The Library That Dolly Built explores the origins and impact of Parton’s vision through interviews with book recipients, parents, policymakers, and Parton herself. The documentary also features music by Parton and is narrated by actress and author Danica McKellar.
Representatives from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Knox County will be onsite during the screening to accept donations and help families sign up their children for the program.
The event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.
