Professor Dania Bilal and CCI doctoral student Li-Min Huang had their paper, “Readability and word complexity of SERPs snippets and web pages on children’s search queries: Google vs. Bing,” accepted for publication in the Aslib Journal of Information Management. 

Bilal also had the following papers accepted for the 2019 Human-Computer International Conference to be held in Orlando, Florida July 26 – 31, 2019:

  • “User-centered survey design: Considering group membership effects on survey responses,” with co-author K.C. Roth (UT Department of Psychology, Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience Lab).
  • “Usability of university recruitment web pages from international doctoral students’ perspectives,” with co-author Li-Min Huang.

Congratulations to LaVerne Gray for successfully defending her dissertation. Thanks to her dissertation chair Professor Bharat Mehra and her other committee members: Kimberly Douglass (MTSU), Associate Professor Amber Roessner, and Professor Barbara Thayer-Bacon (CEHHS). The title of Dr. Gray’s dissertation is “In a collective voice:  Uncovering the black feminist information community of activist mothers in Chicago housing, 1955-1970.”

Congratulations to Jimmy Malone for successfully defending his dissertation. Thanks to his dissertation chair Chancellor’s Professor Suzie Allard and his other committee members: Professor Dania Bilal, Chancellor’s Professor Carol Tenopir, and Professor Aly Fathy (TCE). The title of Dr. Malone’s dissertation is “Data sharing practices and attitudes of scientists in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.”
