New CCI Faculty/Staff Join CCI

New Faculty/Staff 2018Two new full-time faculty members and a new staff member have joined the CCI family. The faculty members are: Advertising & Public Relations Assistant Professor Sifan Xu and Communication Studies Lecturer Jason Weaver.  Hillary S. Meeks Tune has joined the School of Information Sciences as a communication specialist.

New Faculty

Sifan Xu has a PhD and MA in Communication from the University of Maryland (2018 & 2016). While at Maryland, he served as a graduate teaching assistant in the Department of Communication from 2013-2018. The title of his dissertation is: “An identity-based approach to organization-public relationships and interactions.” He uses both qualitative and quantitative methods to conduct research focused on crisis communication and organization-public relationships. Specifically, he examines crisis communication in community contexts and the role of individuals’ social identities in influencing their perceived positions and relationships with different types of organizations.

Jason Weaver has an MBA in Information Systems from Troy University (2007) and a BBA in Managerial Sciences from Georgia State University (2006). He lives in Jacksonville, Florida where he is Director of International Markets for Multivista, a company for which he has worked since 2008. Prior companies for which he has worked include: Mallory & Evans, Contractors and Engineers, Information & Display Systems and Exxon Mobil. He specializes in teaching operational technologies and efficiencies to colleagues and students and strives to provide students and fellow employees with a hands-on learning approach to put knowledge into context to make it relevant in their everyday life. He is teaching four online sections of CMST 240 Business and Professional Communication per semester.

New Staff

Hillary S. Meeks Tune has a BA in Communications with a minor in Photography from Stephen F. Austin State University. She comes to the School of Information Sciences from her own company, Hillary S. Meeks Tune Services (2017-2018) where she provided customers with a variety of communication services. Prior companies for which she has provided communication, journalistic and marketing services include: community outreach manager for Baby+Company, content marketing specialist for Stowers Machinery, city editor/reporter for the Visalia Times-Delta/Tulare Advance-Register and education reporter/features editor for the Kileen Daily Herald.
