IS Associate Professor Wade Bishop received funding from Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) for his project, “Informing Science Data Help Desk Staffing through Transaction Analysis.” The $7,000 ESIP Special Projects grant will fund the study of researcher’s questions about locating and managing data at the 2018 meetings of the Ecological Society of America (ESA) and of the American Geophysical Union (AGU).
IS Director and Professor Diane Kelly has been selected for the 2019 UT Leadership Institute, which will be held February 24 – March 1 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Kelly is also serving on the search committee for UT’s Vice Chancellor for Research.
JEM Director and Professor Catherine Luther has been selected for the 2018 Television Academy Foundation Faculty Fellow program. Twenty-five professors from colleges and universities nationwide are selected each year to travel to Los Angeles in November. The project immerses professors in the entertainment industry for a week-long seminar to learn from the industry’s top professionals.
Dean Mike Wirth is chairing the search committee for UT’s vice chancellor for communications. The individual selected will serve as the university’s chief communications and marketing officer and advise the chancellor and other senior leaders on communications-related matters. The position oversees the Office of Communications and Marketing and WUOT-FM 91.9, the university’s public radio station.
