Alumni News June/July 2018James Herbert, (BS/Agriculture and Journalism ’62), and his wife, Judi,provided UT with a transformational gift to name the Herbert College of Agriculture.
Cristol Kapp (MS/IS ’10) was awarded a scholarship to attend the SXSWedu conference in March. In May, she presented a hands-on workshop at the TSIN STEM Institute, “STEAM Book Café and Makerspace.” Teachers attending explored a wide variety of picture books connected to STEM topics and six STEM picture book inspired “makerstations.”
Mark McNeely (BS/JEM ’70) and his MP&F team and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Director of Corporate Communications Mary Danielson (MS/C&I ’98) and her team, were awarded Best of Silver Anvil at the Public Relations Society of America’s annual ceremony in New York. MP&F, on behalf of its client, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, created a public education campaign, “Don’t Be An Accidental Drug Dealer,” to help combat the opioid epidemic in Tennessee.
Jacob Rudolph (BS/JEM ’00) was hired as UT Knoxville’s Associate Vice Chancellor for Communications and Marketing.
Bliss Zechman (BS/JEM ’17) and her fellow News21 2017 fellows received a 2018 Edward R. Murrow Award for Digital Reporting for their work on “Troubled Waters.” A total of 29 students from 18 universities worked on the seven month investigation of drinking water contamination in communities across the country.
