Professor Mariea Hoy, N. Evans (PhD/C&I ’14) (U. of Georgia), and B. Wojdynski (U. of Georgia), had their article, “How sponsorship transparency mitigates negative effects of advertising recognition,accepted for publication in the International Journal of Advertising.


Associate Professor Devendra Potnis, A. Chen (U. Washington), M. Ocepek (U. Illinois at Urbana Champaign), and Y. Wang’s (Rutgers U.) proposal, “Moving toward the future of information behavior research and practice: 18th annual SIG-USE research symposium,” was accepted for the 81st Annual Meeting of the Association for Information Science and Technology to be held in Vancouver, Canada.


Associate Professor Amber Roessner and Brian Creech’s article, “Declaring the value of truth: Progressive-era lessons for combatting fake news,” was published in Journalism Practice (

Roessner and Jodi Rightler-McDaniels’ (PhD/C&I ’14, MS/C&I ’08, BS/JEM ’05) co-edited book, Political Pioneer of the Press: Ida B. Wells-Barnett and Her Transnational Crusade for Social Justice, will be published by Lexington Books in July. In addition to the introduction, Roessner also contributed two chapters to the volume. 

Assistant Professor Michael Martinez presented, “What writers need to know about censorship,to the Knoxville Writers’ Guild on May 3.
