B. Wildemuth (U. of NCCH), Director and Professor Diane Kelly, E. Boettcher (U. of Chicago Library), E. Moore (Warpwire, Inc.) and G. Dimitrova (Concordis) had their paper, “Examining the impact of domain and cognitive complexity on query formulation and reformulation,” accepted for publication in Information Processing & Management.
Associate Professor Bharat Mehra and Abbey Elder (MS/IS ‘17) had their article, “Benefits to collection development librarians from collaborating with “community-embedded” librarians-in-training,” published in the Collection Management, 43(2): 1-18.doi: 10.1080/01462679.2018.1426510.
Associate Professor Devendra Potnis presented the following research at the Association of Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) conference in Denver, Colorado, February 6 – 9, 2018.
- Juried paper on “Developing MISSILE curriculum to train LIS students as mobile technology consultants” with Associate Dean for Reach and Professor Suzie Allard
- ALISE/OCLC research grant presentation on “Financial information literacy toolkit for equipping over 200 million poor for mobile-based digital payments: A study with public libraries in India
- Work-in-progress poster on “Training librarians to better serve patrons using assistive technologies: An inquiry-based approach” with Kevin Mallary (CCI doctoral student)
- Work-in-progress poster on “LIS education to save the world: Information skills for international development”
Potnis also chaired a conference session on “Interdisciplinary approach and professional development.”
JOURNALISM & ELECTRONIC MEDIA
Professor Peter Gross will present, “Romania’s re-emerging role as strategic partner in the US & European affairs,” at the World Affairs Council of South Texas on February 21, 2018 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Gross also had his paper,”Those willing and able to emulate the most despicable enemies of a free press are a dime a dozen,” published in Transitions Online, January 30, 2018.
Senior Lecturer Melanie Faizer presented a lecture, “Reliable news and resources,” to the Macro Social Work group on Tuesday, February 6, 2018.
