Director and Professor Maureen Taylor along with – M. Doerfel (Rutgers U.) co-authored an article, “The story of collective action: The emergence of ideological leaders, collective action network leaders, and cross-sector network partners in civil society,” published in the Journal of Communication, 67, 6.
Taylor’s co-edited book, International public relations: Perspectives from deeply divided societies, (http://www.cci.utk.edu/august-31-2016) received the 2017 PRIDE Book Award for outstanding Innovation, Development, and Educational Achievement in Public Relations from the PR Division of the National Communication Association (NCA).
COMMUNICATION STUDIES
Assistant Professor Emily Paskewitz along with S. Beck (North Dakota State U.) co-authored an article, “When work and family merge: Understanding intragroup conflict experiences in family farm businesses,” published in the Journal of Family Communication, 17, 4.
INFORMATION SCIENCES
Associate Professors Bharat Mehra and Vandana Singh along with Natasha Hollenbach (MS/IS ‘11) and Robert Partee (MS/IS ‘16) co-authored a chapter, “Rural librarians as change agents in the 21st century: Applying community informatics in the Southern and Central Appalachian Region to further ICT literacy training,” in Brian Real (ed.) (2017), Rural and Small Public Libraries: Challenges and Opportunities (Advances in Librarianship Series), Emerald Group Publishing.
Mehra, Associate Professor Wade Bishop and Partee co-authored a chapter, “A gap analysis of the perspectives of small businesses and rural librarians in Tennessee: Implications towards a blueprint design of a public library small business toolkit,” in the same book.
JOURNALISM AND ELECTRONIC MEDIA
JEM Howard Distinguished Endowed Professor of Media Management and Law and Beaman Professor of Communication and Information Stuart N. Brotman made a presentation, “Developing media migration pathways in media business,” at the Second International Conference on Communication and Media Studies at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, November 16-17, 2017.
