Alumni News October 2017Monica Abbott (BA/CS ’08), professional fastpitch softball pitcher, was inducted into the Tennessee Athletics Hall of Fame on October 13, 2017 along with seven other Tennessee athletics standouts, http://www.utsports.com/news/2017/8/9/general-eight-set-for-induction-into-the-tennessee-athletics-hall-of-fame.aspx.
Alexandra Harper (BS/JEM ’15) was crowned Miss Tennessee USA in a pageant held in Clarksville on October 14, 2017. Harper’s mother, Sharon, was also crowned Miss Tennessee USA in 1981.
Amy Hurd (MS C&I ’85), was appointed  to PRSA’s Universal Accreditation Board which administers the APR, APR+M, and Certificate in Principles of Public Relations. She is the director of communications for the Tennessee Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Traci Topham (BS/JEM ’84), senior vice president of interactive ad sales marketing, at Scripps Networks Interactive and CCI Honorary Board of Visitors member Mary Beth West (BS/PR ’94), principal at Mary Beth West Communications, LLC have been selected for the Leadership Knoxville Class of 2018. West has also been elected to PRSA’s prestigious College of Fellows, an honorary organization within PRSA of 350+ senior practitioners and educators who have left a significant footprint on the public relations profession.
