This fall CCI students took field trips to Atlanta, Nashville and Cincinnati to meet with CCI alumni and working professionals. A total of 56 CCI students participated in the field trips along with 11 faculty members and 13 CCI alumni.
Each semester groups of CCI students travel to cities to meet with organizations that hire employees with communication degrees. The trips are often hosted and/or set up by local alumni. The field trips provide students with the opportunity to get into the “boardroom” to see what it takes to make it in the “real world” by hearing directly from working professionals.

They also met with the general manager, news director and local sales manager of WKRC-TV. The group, which was led by DSLS Director and CS Lecturer Alice Wirth, concluded the field trip by touring the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.
“Field trips are a great way to provide our students with direct knowledge about the professional world to help them make the transition from the classroom to the working world,” said CCI Dean Mike Wirth. “They also provide our alumni with a chance to give back and understand the challenges faced by today’s students. We are very grateful to our CCI alumni who give of their time and resources to make these trips possible.”
