Associate Professor and CCI Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Michael Palenchar made an invited presentation, “Increasing challenges for corporate risk and issues management communicators,” to the 2017 Corporate Communication Summit at Marquette University on October 26 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Chancellor’s Professor Carol Tenopir made four invited speeches to two Norwegian organizations last week:

Associate Professor Devendra Potnis had his proposal, “Digital literacy and good governance,” accepted by the US Department of State Diplomacy Lab.
Potnis’ article, “Students’ intention to adopt Internet-based personal safety wearable devices: Extending UTAUT with trusting belief,” was published in First Monday. The article was co-authored with D. Demissie (Sage Colleges) and K. Deosthali (U. of Mary Washington).
JOURNALISM AND ELECTRONIC MEDIA
Howard Distinguished Endowed Professor of Media Management and Law and Beaman Professor of Communication and Information Stuart N. Professor Peter Gross’ article, “A mystery in Albania. Russia? Again? Buying, controlling, manipulating, using media in other countries,” was published in Transitions Online, Oct. 17, 2017. Also, as a Fulbright Senior Specialist, he gave: six lectures in classes at the University of Timisoara West (Romania), the keynote address at the 25th anniversary of the journalism program that he helped initiate in 1992, and a public presentation, “Weds.: Future or Past? Democracy, liberalism, and media.”
Professor Sam Swan had his proposal, “Social media wars: The battle for influence in Bulgaria,” accepted by the US Department of State Diplomacy Lab.
Mirjana Pantic (PhD/C&I ’17) (Pace U.) and Associate Professor Erin Whiteside published, “Politics, conflict generate more live-blog comments,” in Newspaper Research Journal, 38(3), 354-365.
