INFORMATION SCIENCES
An article by Chancellor’s Professor Carol Tenopir, Professor Suzie Allard, doctoral students Lisa Christian and Robert Anderson, Suzan Ali Saleh (MS/IS ’16), and IS Adjunct Professor Dave Nicholas, No scholar is an island: The impact of sharing in the work life of scholars, has been selected by the editors of Learned Publishing (official journal of the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers—ALPSP) as a part of the favorite articles collection to celebrate and promote the upcoming ALPSP conference. According to the editor: “I am delighted to include your article in this collection – and to also take the opportunity to thank you for submitting such a great article to the journal.” The collection will be freely available online until the end of October at http://bit.ly/2jpf4dl.
Associate Dean for Research Suzie Allard, Chancellor’s Professor Carol Tenopir, Lecturer Mike Frame, CICS staff members Laura Moyers , Rachel Volentine (MS/IS ’10) and Frances Bachstein (PhD/C&I ’16) and CCI doctoral student Danielle Pollock all participated in the NSF-DataONE project All Hands Meeting August 29 – 31 in New Mexico. DataONE, funded by the National Science Foundation, is a large international project primarily focused on building the cyberinfrastructure and culture of research data sharing for the earth and environmental sciences. The UT team is involved in all aspects of DataONE, notably system development, member node support, usability, assessment of stakeholders, and sustainability and governance.
JOURNALISM AND ELECTRONIC MEDIA
Howard Distinguished Endowed Professor of Media Management and Law and Beaman Professor of Communication and Information Stuart N. Brotman was interviewed by Communications Daily for a recent article, “Katsas Seen Bringing Conservative Bent to DC Circuit Without Reshaping It, for Now.”
Professor Peter Gross had his article, “Pay attention to the dangers of ‘progressive’ journalism” (in Romanian), published in Revista 22, September 12, 2017.
