Professors Michael Kent and Maureen Taylor had their book chapter, “Building an ethic of responsibility: Dialogue and communitarianism as public relations archetypes,” published in The Moral Compass of Public Relations, (pp. 175–184). New York: Routledge.
Associate Professor Beth Avery Foster had three papers accepted for presentation at the International Communication Association annual conference to be held in San Diego, California, May 25 – 29, 2017.
- “Zika virus preparedness among public information officers: Toward a deeper understanding of factors affecting crisis planning”
- “Demographic predictors of crisis self-efficacy,” co-authored with Sejin Park (PhD/C&I ’16)
- “The more the better? Exploring the role of internal resources in crisis management,” co-authored with Sejin Park and Melissa Graham (PhD/C&I ’14)
INFORMATION SCIENCES
Associate Professor Devendra Potnis and B. Gala (Central U. of Gujarat, India) had their paper, “Factors influencing electronic word-of-mouth among Indian youth: Implications for mobile governance,” accepted for the Special Issue Publication on e-Governance in India at the 10th international conference on electronic governance to be held in India in March 2017.
Clinical Associate Professor Cindy Welch, in her capacity as associate director of CCYAL, is working with the UTK Office of Communication & Marketing to create “listicles” of children’s and young adult books for short articles on Black history month, president’s day, and women’s history month. Welch provided a similar list of books about the Olympics in summer 2016.

JEM Howard Distinguished Professor of Media Management and Law and Beaman Professor of Communication and Information Stuart N. Brotman had his article, “The road ahead for technology-related trade agreement terms,” published by Brookings TechTank on February 2.
Professor Peter Gross had his article, “Evolution gone wrong,” published in Transitions Online.
Professor Sam Swan’s chapter, “Broadcast Engineering Management,” was published in the 11th edition of the National Association of Broadcasters Engineering Handbook, Routledge.
