Associate Professor Bharat Mehra was interviewed on “Rural libraries: Political and economic change” by Narrative Paths Journal. The interview is available at URL:

Associate Professor Devendra Potnis is the PI of OCLC/ALISE Library and Information Science Research Grant, which he will receive in January 2017 at the Association of Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) Conference in Atlanta.   The grant, “Financial information literacy toolkit to educate borrowers (FILTER): A channel for public libraries to partner with governments for financial inclusion in the developing world,” will be completed in collaboration with the Central University of Gujarat and public libraries in Gujarat, India.

Assistant Professor, Wade Bishop, was the guest editor for volume 12, issue 3 of the Journal of Map & Geography Libraries ( His editorial, Education for Organization, Access, and Use of Geographic Information,highlights work done at the University of Tennessee.

Bishop also contributed the essay, Geographic Information Systems in LIS to the Libraries Unlimited textbook, Research Methods in Library and Information Science, 6th edition (2017).



Professor Peter Gross presented, “The past that does not want to pass away,” at the Media Freedom and Pluralism in Europe: Threats and responses seminar, December 1 & 2, 2016 at the University of Copenhagen.

JEM Howard Distinguished Endowed Professor of Media Management and Law and Beaman Professor of Communications and Information Stuart N. Brotman’s article, “At last, a Presidential Medal of Freedom for communications,” was published on the Brooking Institute’s TechTank site on November 29, 2016.
