Professor Sally McMillan and UT Director of Institutional Research Denise Gardner made a presentation, “From contemplation to completion: Understanding how personal characteristics, programs and services, and engagement with faculty impact student success,” at the Southern Association of Institutional Researchers conference in Charlotte, NC on October 10.

Chancellor’s Professor Carol Tenopir, Elizabeth Dalton (PhD/C&I ’14), A. Fish (Indiana U.), Lisa Christian, (MS/IS ’12), Misty Jones (former CICS) and M. Smith (U. of California) had their paper, “What motivates authors of scholarly articles? The importance of journal attributes and potential audience on publication choice,” published in Publications, 4(3), 22.
Tenopir, Dalton, Christian, Jones, M. Assistant Professors Wade Bishop and Carolyn Hank will present two papers, “Data curation profiling of biocollections” and “Fitness for use in data curation profiles for biocollections,” at the American Society for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) annual meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark. Bishop will also present a co-authored poster, “An exploration of “localness” on Twitter during the 2012 U.S. Elections,” with A.J. Million and S. Goggins (both U. of Missouri.)
Clinical Associate Professor Cindy Welch, in her role as Associate Director of the Center for Children’s & Young Adult Literature, presented a special edition of BoB 2016: The Best of the Best, Thus Far, at the October 5-7 Georgia COMO/SELA Conference in Athens, Georgia. BoB programs highlight current noteworthy publications in the area of children’s and young adult literature. Welch will also present a STEM/STEAM edition of BoB at an upcoming Knox County District Learning Day, on November 8, 2016.
