Professor Roxanne Hovland and Associate Professor Robyn Blakeman had their article, “Design education in an international context,” published in The International Journal of Design Education, 9(4), 1-6.
A-Reum Jung (MS/C&I ’12) and Hovland had their article, “Targeting gender: A content analysis of alcohol advertising in magazines,” published in Health Marketing Quarterly, July 2016, 33(3).
COMMUNICATION STUDIES
C. Allen Gorman (ETSU) and Professor Joan Rentsch had their article, “Retention of assessment center rater training improving performance schema accuracy using frame-of-reference training,” published in the Journal of Personnel Psychology, 94(5).
INFORMATION SCIENCES
Associate Professor Bharat Mehra was selected to serve a two-year term as CCI’s representative on UT’s Academic Outreach and Engagement Council (AOEC). As a Carnegie-designated engaged university, the AOEC continues to heighten community awareness for our campus outreach efforts and provides faculty support for engaged scholarship.
Associate Professor Devendra Potnis had his co-authored research paper, “Factors influencing the intention of students to continue using e-Books: Recommendations for academic libraries to better engage with students,” accepted for presentation at the 2017 Association of Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) Conference to be held in Atlanta. The paper is co-authored with K. Deosthali (U. of Mary Washington, Assistant Professor Awa Zhu and Master’s student Rebecca McCusker.

Howard Distinguished Professor Stuart N. Professor Mark Harmon had his co-authored article, “Reality TV, materialism, and associated consequences: An exploration of the influences of enjoyment and social comparison on reality TV’s cultivation effects,” published in the Atlantic Journal of Communication. Co-authors included Shu Yueh-Lee (PhD/C&I ’09)(U. of Wisconsin) and Yen-Shen Chen (National Chiao Tung U.).
Harmon and C&I doctoral student Abhijit Mazumdar had their article, “The press complaints commission is dead; Long live the IPSO?” accepted by the Journal of Global Communication. It is scheduled for publication in January 2017.
