Chandler Condrone (BS/JEM ’16) was one of 30 students selected from 1,200 applicants nationwide to participate in the International Radio and Television Society (IRTS) Foundation’s summer fellowship program in New York. The fellowship included airfare and housing at an NYU dormitory.
Condrone and the other student fellows spent their first week meeting dozens of industry executives from companies including HBO, FOX, ABC and many others. They also visited companies such as Google and Spotify to gain more in-depth knowledge about the media industry and to participate in professional development activities such as mock interviews and show pitches.
For the rest of the summer, Condrone completed a full-time, paid internship at the Global Media Marketing (GMM) group at Bloomberg LP working with the Brand Storytelling team. He also assisted with GMM projects for many teams such as Client Solutions, Client Activation, Creative Strategy, Custom Content, Sales, and Data Analytics.
While completing their internships, Condrone and the other student fellows continued meeting industry executives, attending group meetings and weekly speaker series events and meeting with his three IRTS-provided mentors.
“Aside from the wonderful events and projects at Bloomberg,” said Condrone, “I used my connections within IRTS to complete over 50 informational interviews with various industry leaders and professionals. This was an incredible experience for which I am very grateful!” To view posts from this year’s participants, see their 2016 IRTS Tumblr page at http://2016irtssummerfellowship.tumblr.com.
