Faculty News: Bilal, Brotman, Gross, King

Faculty News June/July 2016IS Professor Dania Bilal has been elected to the Association for Information Science and Technology’s (ASIS&T) Board of Directors as a director-at-large beginning at ASIS&T’s Annual Meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark in October.

Howard Distinguished Professor of Media Management and Law and Beaman Professor Stuart N. Brotman (JEM) was featured in a June 30 Brookings Institute TechTank blog where he discussed the post-Brexit digital future of the UK and the EU  (http://www.brookings.edu/blogs/techtank/posts/2016/06/30-viewing-brexit-digital-lens-brotman). Brotman is a nonresident senior fellow in the Center for Technology Innovation within Governance Studies at Brookings.

JEM Professor Peter Gross will be presented with a 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award from Northern Illinois University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at a campus ceremony in October. http://www.niu.edu/clas/aboutus/awards/annualAwards.shtml

Donald W. King, adjunct professor in Information Sciences, received an honorary Doctor of Science degree from the University of Wyoming (UW) in May. King earned a bachelor’s and a master’s in statistics at UW before co-founding Westat Inc. in 1961. Westat is one of the world’s leading private-sector statistical survey research organizations.
