In the late seventies, Knoxville was preparing to welcome the world to the 1982 World’s Fair. Three public relations majors, then a part of the School of Journalism, forged a strong friendship that has survived through many career and life changes.
Leigh Hendry (BS/PR ’79), Director of External Affairs for the Tennessee State Museum; Sybil Wyatt (BS/PR ’78), Senior Consulting Vice President of Strategic Communications for Grenzebach, Glier and Associates; and Gina Pera (BS/PR ’78), author of “Is It You, Me or Adult ADD?” and “Stopping the Roller Coaster When Someone You Love Has Attention Deficit Disorder” have remained in touch since graduating from UT even though many miles separate them. Hendry, who lives in Nashville, and Wyatt and Pera, who live within 25 miles of each other in the Bay area in California, have managed to meet periodically through the years and stay in touch through social media.
All three have expressed gratitude for their UT education and point to it as the foundation for their individual successes.
