The March 2016 issue of Journalism and Mass Communication Educator contains the following articles:

Professor Ron Taylor, “’I like to plan events’: A document analysis of essays written by applicants to a public relations program”

Assistant Professor Moonhee Cho and co-author Giselle A. Auger (Duquesne U.), “A comparative analysis of public relations curricula:  Does it matter where you go to school, and Is academia meeting the needs of the practice?”

The edition also contains an article about research conducted under the direction of University of Missouri faculty,“A seventeen-year study of graduate student authorship in advertising journals.” It ranks UT advertising graduate students as tied for third place among 29 universities in the study. Graduate students at the University of Texas and at the Stockholm School of Economics ranked first and second respectively. UT students tied with students from Michigan State U. and U. of Minnesota.

Professor Candace White was appointed to the International Advisory Board for a new inter-disciplinary Master’s in Public and Cultural Diplomacy at the University of Siena, Italy. The program, one of the first of its kind in Europe, will train both students and professionals in public and cultural diplomacy with a particular emphasis on cultural heritage.  The program is in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh and the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC).

Professor Sam Swan was selected to participate in the Poynter Institute’s Teachapalooza VI in St. Petersburg, Florida in June.  The focus is on data journalism and new storytelling platforms.

WUTK was voted “Knoxville’s Best Radio Station” for the second year in a row in Blank Newspaper‘s 2016 ‘Knoxville’s Finest Awards.’  Counting Metro Pulse, Knoxville Mercury, and Blank Newspaper, this makes 11 years in a row for WUTK to be voted Knoxville’s best.

WUTK has a current VOLstarter campaign to raise funds to replace the acoustic foam tiles in the station.  The campaign can be found here:
