JEM Student-Produced Pregnancy & Addiction Documentary To Air on WBIR-TV
A 30-minute documentary, about the opiate epidemic in East Tennessee, produced by UT’s Land Grant Films, an extracurricular documentary journalism program housed in the School of Journalism and Electronic Media (JEM), will premiere at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, at the Knox County Health Department auditorium at 140 Dameron Avenue. The premiere of “Reaching Recovery: Pregnancy and Addiction in East Tennessee,” will be broadcast live on WBIR along with a panel discussion to follow. Find out more |

Cortez Appointed ALA Committee on Education Chair
Ed Cortez, professor and former director of the School of Information Sciences in the College of Communication and Information (CCI) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has been appointed chair of the American Library Association (ALA) Committee on Education (COE). Cortez will take office in June 2016, after the ALA annual conference.

Harrington Keynotes CCI Research Symposium
“Engaged Research: Communities, Communication, Information” was the theme for the College of Communication and Information’s (CCI) thirty-eighth annual Research Symposium held on Wednesday, February 24, 2016. Nancy Grant Harrington, professor of communication and associate dean for research in the College of Communication and Information at the University of Kentucky, delivered this year’s keynote, “Rethinking Risk: Prospect Theory Application in Health Message Design.”
