Brotman Hired as Inaugural Howard Distinguished Professor
The School of Journalism and Electronic Media is pleased to announce the hiring of Stuart N. Brotman as the inaugural Herb Howard Distinguished Professor of Media Management and Law, effective January 1, 2016. He is president of Stuart N. Brotman Communications, a premier management consulting firm, a lecturer at Harvard Law School, a faculty member in the Harvard Business School Executive Education Program, Co-director of the Harvard-Stanford Entertainment and Media Law Faculty Exchange Program, and a nonresident senior fellow in The Brookings Institution’s Government Studies Program/Center for Technology Innovation. Rentsch Appointed CCI Associate Dean for Academic Programs
Joan Rentsch, professor of communication studies and director of the College of Communication and Information’s Integrative Organizational Research Laboratory, has been named the college’s new associate dean for academic programs. She began her new role on August 1.Find out more

Carroll Receives National DOE Award Bonnie Carroll, founder and chief executive officer of Information International Associates (IIa) and long-time CCI Board of Visitors member, received the Woman-owned Small Business Award for fiscal year 2014 from the US Department of Energy (DOE). Carroll received the award in June at the 14th Annual DOE Small Business Forum and Expo in Phoenix, Arizona. Find out more
Newly Renovated Tennessee Newspaper Hall of Fame Debuts The newly renovated Tennessee Newspaper Hall of Fame (TNHF), a partnership between the Tennessee Press Association (TPA) and the University of Tennessee since 1966, debuted in spectacular fashion during a reception held on Friday evening, July 17 at the close of TPA’s Summer Convention. CCI Legends Highlighted in 2014 CCI Annual Report CCI’s 2014 Annual Report contains a tribute to four recently deceased CCI legends – Dwight Teeter, Kelly Leiter, DeForrest Jackson and Richard Joel. Each of these outstanding individuals left a living legacy through the students they mentored and the programs they helped build.
