Communication Studies Associate Professor Courtney Wright is Co-PI along with Abbas Rashidi of UTK’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of a $24,993 grant from the Engineering Information Foundation (EIF). The title of their project is “ComCon” Summit: Innovative Professional Workshop Series to Enhance Communication Skills Pertinent to Construction Engineering Students.”
Communication Studies Director John Haas led a very successful Southern States Communication Association Conference (Tampa, Florida, April 8-12) as this year’s president. Haas and his team crafted the programming and all the details required to plan this year’s conference.
Chancellor’s Professor Carol Tenopir has received a Fulbright Specialist grant in Library Science at the University of Tampere, Finland. Tenopir will travel to Finland in September 2015 to work with the University of Tampere Library staff to develop and administer a questionnaire to help librarians understand how University of Tampere researchers use scientific literature. While in Tampere, she will also give a lecture on researchers’ use of scientific literature to the library professionals and students. The purpose of the project is to enhance the understanding of library customers’ needs and to strengthen collaboration between the library and researchers. Once she returns to Knoxville, Tenopir will analyze the questionnaire results and prepare a written report of the findings.
