CCI Associate Dean for Academic Programs Catherine Luther has decided to step down from her administrative role and return to the faculty of the School of Journalism and Electronic Media on August 1. “I went into the position thinking that I would serve 5 years and it has been 5+ years. It is time for me to move on and pass the torch to another individual,” said Luther.
During her time as Associate Dean, Luther has been instrumental in directing CCI’s graduate and undergraduate programs with particular focus on continuing to advance CCI’s doctoral program. Notable recognitions for her leadership include: the 2014-15 “Outstanding GSA Member” Award, SECAC Academic Leadership Development Program Fellow (2012-13), University of Tennessee Notable Woman Award (2012), and UT Knoxville Women’s Leadership Program Participant (2011-12).
“Catherine Luther’s commitment to excellence coupled with her ability to work with faculty, staff, students and UT administrators has allowed her to be highly effective in carrying out her duties as associate dean,” said CCI dean Mike Wirth. “She has done an outstanding job of managing CCI’s academic programs and of serving as a key member of CCI’s administrative team, and I am very grateful for her excellent service to the college.”
An internal search for Luther’s replacement is currently under way.
