Joe Palca, award-winning NPR Science Correspondent, will deliver the annual Alfred & Julia Hill Lecture, “Explaining the Universe in Two Minutes or Less,” Tuesday, March 24 at 8 p.m. in the College of Nursing Auditorium.  The event is free and open to the public with refreshments served before and after.  The event is presented by the School of Journalism & Electronic Media.  For additional details, call 974-8156.

Assistant Professor Carolyn Hank and her co-authors, Cassidy Sugimoto and Timothy Bowman, Indiana University Bloomington, and Jeffery Pomerantz, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, had their article, “Friend or faculty: Social networking sites, dual relationships and context collapse in higher education,” published in First Monday, 20(3) 


On March 10 in Austin TX at SXSWedu, Hank, Nicholas Bowman (West Virginia University), Karen Freberg (PhD/C&I ’11) (University of Louisville), and Nicole Kraft, (Ohio State University) were part of a panel on “Plunging the perils and pearls of a social classroom.” The panel grew out of a panel held at UT Social Media Week 2014 featuring Bowman, Freberg and Hank. C&I PhD candidate Denae D’Arcy has been selected for a 2015-2016 Fulbright award to Pakistan to continue her research on freelance journalists covering conflict.
