Associate Professor Bharat Mehra served as the coordinating co-chair (along with former SIS faculty member Kendra S. Albright) of the2015 Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) Annual Conference. Mehra and Albright also presented a “Diversity research update from ALISE” at the 2015 American Library Association Midwinter conference. Both Conferences were held in Chicago at the end of January.
Mehra, who serves as a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Education for Library and Information Science (JELIS, also represented editor Peta Wellstead at the ALISE Board of Directors Meeting and, on her behalf, raised a number of important issues.
Professor Mark Harmon and co-authors University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh Assistant Professor Shu Yueh-Lee (PhD/C&I ’09) and Yen-Shen Chen (National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan) had their research paper, “Reality TV, materialism, and associated consequences: An exploration of the influences of enjoyment and social comparison on reality TV’s cultivation effects,” accepted for publication in The Atlantic Journal of Communication, Vol. 24, No. 2 (April 2016).
