Assistant Professor Devendra Potnis’ manuscript, “Applying information science lens for advancing critical research on IT adoption: Insights from continued usage of mobile phones by poor women in rural India,” was accepted for publication by the International Journal of Technology Diffusion.
Lecturer Maria Fontenot, Professor Catherine Luther, and Ioana Coman (PhD/C&I ’14) had their article, “Coverage of Japan’s tsunami included few social media sources,” published in the Fall 2014 edition of Newspaper Research Journal.
Doctoral students Denae D’Arcy and Jaclyn Cameron, along with Assistant Professor Mike Martinez had their paper, “Future journalists and support for first amendment rights,” accepted for presentation at the 2015 Broadcast Education Association Convention. In addition, the paper was selected as the 2nd Place winner of the Law & Policy’s Open Division.
Professor Mark Harmon has gone from monthly columnist to weekly columnist for the Knoxville News Sentinel.  His work now appears every Friday.
The eclectic Knoxville music festival Waynestock returns with a line-up that includes some local legends, one-of-a-kind sets and some of the most popular acts in East Tennessee. The 2015 festival will be held Thursday-Sunday, Jan. 29-31, at the Relix Variety Theater, 1208 N. Central St. The beneficiary for this year’s Waynestock is WUTK The Rock.
